So many 8GB models to end up in trade-ins, pawnshops, and e-waste, once people realize that's not enough RAM for 90% of end users.

[S]$999 and you have a deal![/S]

Come to think about it - no deal. Get a Mac mini and a gaming 144hz monitor and it's still cheaper than these deals. That display isn't anything worthwhile at all either.
Except there is no other 4.5K monitor on the market, and only one option for a 5K monitor which is $1300

I can't see ever buying an AIO, the display will almost always outlive the computer forcing the consumer to throw the perfectly good display away (or preferably recycle). I would much rather have a mini and quality monitor, hopefully Apple will give us one this year, I cannot fathom why Apple doesn't at least release an iMac shell with no computer in it, just the monitor, speakers and ports.

It’s the extra few hundred bucks worth an extra core? (Serously asking)
I would, besides the 1 extra GPU core you also get 2 more USB-C ports, Ethernet on the power adapter, an additional fan and cooling inside

Yeah. I wish Apple would make the iMac like my Dell AIO, which is designed to continue to function as a display even if the motherboard croaks or becomes obsolete. My 2008 iMac's display is still great and probably will outlast the rest of its hardware.
