Here Are All the Macs Compatible With macOS Monterey

macOS Monterey is compatible with many of the Macs that were able to run macOS Big Sur, but it drops support for some older MacBook Air and iMac models from 2013 and 2014.

  • ‌MacBook Air‌ - Early 2015 and later
  • MacBook Pro - Early 2015 and later
  • Mac Pro - Late 2013 and later
  • Mac mini - Late 2014 and later
  • MacBook - Early 2016 and later

macOS 12 Monterey is available to developers at the current time, with Apple planning to make a public beta available in July.

I am so happy that they didn't announce any new Macs! That way they could focus on high-priority items like iCloud, Maps, and iPad widgets.

It's pretty stupid how they arbitrarily decide what is and is not supported. The 2014 Mac Mini is supported but the MacBook Pros from 2013 and 2014 aren't even though they're on par in the case of the 13" models or vastly superior in the case of the 15" models. Apple needs to do more to live up to their environmental claims instead of just paying lip service.

Anybody wanna explain to me why Late 2013 and Mid 2014 macbook pro’s are out? I mean, at least for 15”, from Late-2013 to Mid-2015 it’s pretty much the same friggin device. At least the IGP models….
I'm betting there is no technical reason at all. And the MacOS patchers quite often show that to be the case. It's a purely financial decision.
