Apple Seeds Second Beta of tvOS 14.4 to Developers [Update: Public Beta Available]

Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming tvOS 14.4 update to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming a month after the release of the first beta.

tvOS Dev Beta Feature2
Designed for the fourth and fifth-generation Apple TV models, the tvOS 14.4 developer beta can be downloaded onto the ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ via a profile that's installed using Xcode.

Apple's tvOS updates are often minor in scale, focusing on under-the-hood bug fixes and improvements rather than major outward-facing changes. There's no word yet on what's included in tvOS 14.4 update, and there was nothing new discovered in the first beta.

Though we don't often know what's new in tvOS during the beta testing process, we let MacRumors readers know when new updates are available so those who are developers can download it upon release.

The main tvOS 14 update released in September brought expanded Picture in Picture support, new HomeKit integration with ‌HomeKit‌ Secure video cameras, support for multiple Apple Arcade profiles, and more, with details available in our tvOS 14 roundup.

I'm still waiting for them to bring something closer in price to the competition to market. I know how Apple works, but $180 for a streaming box with an annoying remote? The Google Chromecast/TV is pretty great for $50, I'd like to see Apple do something similar and price it around $80, and they could do a more powerful device around $130. Or if two devices are too much, just do something and keep it around $100.

Please fix the dumpster fire which is the Library on the AppleTV app. Broken in different ways across devices.

(And it should be so easy to do since iTunes/Music/Movies already has a purchased tab which works.)

Remarkably shoddy work by Apple, and it’s been broken for years.

I agree with the previous posters in that the current Apple TV box is way too expensive when compared to the 2021 competition out there. BTW, W H E N is Apple going to release a new Apple TV?

I agree, they need to do this to reach a wider audience as well. My parents want to watch Apple TV+ and Fitness+ content on their TVs, but the $180 option is just insane for their casual needs, they just want something inexpensive, basic and simple. The current model is also way too old to be worth the hefty investment now, no choice but to wait for a new model with updated specs.
