For this week's giveaway, we've teamed up with Arlo to offer MacRumors readers a chance to win an Arlo Pro 2 Camera setup that includes two wire-free cameras and an audio doorbell.

Arlo makes a range of different home security cameras at different price points and with different features. The Pro 2 camera is one of the Arlo cameras that is HomeKit-enabled and can be added to your HomeKit setup so that it can be viewed within the Home app.

The two camera setup that comes with a doorbell is priced at $315 on Amazon, but there are also systems that include a single camera or up to six cameras for securing your entire home.

The Arlo Pro 2 features 1080p HD resolution with a night vision feature that triggers in low light so you can see activity even in the dark. There's a 130 degree viewing angle so you can see most of what's happening in a room.

Two-way audio is included so you can listen to the camera's audio and talk to the person on the other end through your iPhone, and there's a useful 100+ decibel smart security siren that can be activated from anywhere.

Motion and sound detection are included so you can get notifications whenever the camera detects something unusual, and Arlo offers seven days of free cloud storage with upgrade options available. For those who prefer on-device storage, a USB drive can be connected to the base station.

Arlo Pro 2 cameras are wire-free and battery powered, which means they can be placed anywhere, but there is an option to plug them in to unlock 24/7 continuous video recording, three second look back to see what happens before an event triggers, and activity zones that limit where motion detection is used. You can use Arlo cameras indoors or outdoors as they have an IP65 water and dust resistance rating.

Arlo also sells the Audio Doorbell, which is meant to work in conjunction with the cameras. Whenever someone presses the doorbell, you'll receive a notification in the form of a call, and you can respond back right away. Visitors are also able to leave messages that you can listen to remotely through your ‌iPhone‌.

I'm slightly confused: two days ago there was an announcement here on MacRumors that HomeKit support had come to the Arlo Pro 3 ('https://www.macrumors.com/2020/02/19/arlo-pro-3-homekit/'), with no mention of the Pro 2, now there's a giveaway of the Pro 2, touted as supporting HomeKit, with no mention of the Pro 3.

If the Pro 2 had HomeKit support before two days ago when it was announced on the Pro 3, then it seems like that should have been mentioned in Wednesday's Pro 3 article (especially since there's been something of a race to release HomeKit support for security cameras). If, on the other hand, HomeKit support has just today been released on the Pro 2, then this article should mention that.

Indeed, this article says in the second paragraph, "Arlo makes a range of different home security cameras ('https://www.arlo.com/en-us/products/default.aspx'), but the Pro 2 Cameras are HomeKit-enabled" - that makes it sound like the Pro 2 is unique in their lineup as having HomeKit support, yet we have the Pro 3 announced as having it two days ago.

If both cameras have HomeKit, then the, "but the Pro 2 Cameras are HomeKit-enabled" wording seems misleading.

So... what's going on?
They both have HomeKit support. This is a giveaway just for the Pro 2, though, so I wanted to focus on the camera that we're actually giving away.

Edit: I tweaked the wording because it wasn't my intention to make it sound like it was the only Arlo camera with HomeKit support. Note that this is just HomeKit support, and not HomeKit Secure Video -- all cloud storage is handled by Arlo.

Was just looking into this as I’m due for security upgrade since clearly Nest will never support HomeKit even though they did say they were open to it.

really wish Nest didn’t sellout to Google.

Just a heads up, loved my Arlo when it worked. Only worked for about a year though. Just wouldn’t turn on or connect or something after a certain point. Tried to get help through their customer service line. Wasn’t happening.

I would happily upgrade my CCTV cameras to the Arlo system. It’s discrete, quality hardware with Non-complicated Software and I think their customer service also is very good for my understanding. This is probably the best giveaway MacRumors has presented that I’ve seen being a member on here.
