Mophie's Juice Pack Access battery cases for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR are now available for purchase from the Mophie website, Mophie announced today.

Similar in design to Apple's own battery cases, Mophie's Juice Pack Access offers additional battery life for Apple's 2018 ‌iPhone‌ lineup.

Priced at $99.95, the Juice Pack Access charges the ‌iPhone‌ using 5W wireless charging capabilities, leaving the Lightning port on the device free for Lightning-based accessories. This is the first of Mophie's cases that leaves the Lightning port accessible.

Compared to Apple's line of Smart Battery Cases, Mophie's Access options are more affordable ($29 less) but do not have quite as much battery capacity, charge slower (though not a huge issue with a battery case), and do not have the same deep integration with iOS. The Smart Battery Case lets you check battery level right on your device, but on Mophie's, you'll need to use the small LED battery indicator on the side.

There's a 2,200mAh battery in the Juice Pack Access for ‌iPhone‌ XS Max and a 2,000mAh battery in the cases for the XR and XS. Apple's ‌Smart Battery Case‌, meanwhile, offers more power due to the two 1,369mAh batteries in the device.

The Juice Pack Access for ‌iPhone‌ X and XS offers up to 25 hours of total talk time, while the Juice Pack Access for ‌iPhone‌ XR provides up to 31 hours of total talk time (these figures include the built-in battery in the ‌iPhone‌ as well).

You can charge the Juice Pack Access using a Qi wireless charger or through the built-in USB-C port if you need faster recharging speeds.

Mophie has the Juice Pack Access cases available in black on its website starting today, with other colors coming in the near future.

Apple's own Smart Case beats this in every way, IMO.

I've been using the Apple case for about three weeks and love it. Okay, it's a bit heavy and not exactly aesthetically pleasing but it means I can now sometimes go four days in between charging (I usually switch it to Power Save overnight and disable cellular - both through the control panel) and with the 30W USB-C Charger, it juices up both the case and phone at the same time - both hitting about 95% after only an hour.

The Mophie - what's with that plastic design of two parts clipping together? That feels like a throwback to the previous decade.

I also love the tight iOS integration and there are no silly lights (that don't give granular measurements) on the back. The Apple case also completely covers the bottom and yet Apple's tolerances are so good that the speaker grilles line up absolutely perfectly. The black silicon also feels good with a nice firm grip. Apple's solution is simple and elegant. It manages everything for you, no on/off button or other such nonsense.

If you want a smart battery case, Apple's is by far the best option (IMO).

Thanks for that, Mr, Schiller, but the Apple one is ugly as sin and therefore doesn’t beat out the Mophie “in every way”.

got Mophie case for iPhone 8, since Apple apparently don't think it needs one (neither does iPhone X)

It would have been nice if Apple brought out a case for iPhone X.

You are definitely right about cases made of two plastic parts that clip together. They scratch the crap out of the back of your phone. My first case for my first iPhone, in 2008, was one of those. I would never buy any case with that design again.
It isn’t lined with softer plastic?

Mophie case is better. The Apple case killed my iPhone 7 battery.

mophy = crap
Your spelling = crap

I had a Mophie case on my iPhone 6s for 3 years and its never let me down or damaged my phone in anyway. Not to mention it doesn’t have that stupid bump.
