Apple Updates Apple Music for Android With Music Video Improvements

by

Apple today released a new update for its Apple Music app designed to be used on Android devices, which Apple says significantly improves stability to make music playback more reliable.

Apple says today's Apple Music Android update also introduces "new experiences" for music videos. Users can now watch music videos in fullscreen or inside Now Playing and music videos will continue to play while browsing other areas of the app.

Music videos can also be added to playlists to watch them back to back, and you can listen to music videos in the background while using other apps.

Apple has offered an Apple Music for Android app since November of 2015, and the company regularly updates the app with new features to keep it on par with the iOS versions of Apple Music. The app's last major update came in April of 2017, when Apple introduced major design changes.

Apple Music for Android can be downloaded from Google Play for free.

Hope it won't re-download my whole library using cellular data as it did previously...

They should re-code the entire app for Android. It force-closes on me so many times it's ridiculous. Also when I have a load of offline music data on my SD card, I expect the app to read it whenever I re-install the Apple Music app.

Unfortunately I've had to re-download all my music twice already because it wouldn't accept my already downloaded music.

Ah actually to be fair Apple music hasn't crashed on my s7 edge for some time. Sometimes it will bizarrely not play the track I've chosen and skip to the next one for some reason without playing the track I actually selected :p only on the streaming playlists though. Works fine with downloaded music.

This happens on my iPhone too o_O

What device are you using it on? On Galaxy S7 edge, the app works well, except for a costly incident I mentioned above. Well, there might be one issue with the app – sometimes, the search bar won't search AM stuff on the first time, forcing me to re-open it and write my desired keyword again. But otherwise the app works just as expected.
The app has gradually got better for sure. Used to crash all the time; now it's pretty stable. Got the music I bought on my ancient iPhone on my s7 edge 256gb microsd :D nice to have.

Subscribing is a good feature for the gym too, choosing relevant playlists of new music to listen to etc.

Music videos are a big reason I enjoy AM. It needs more, but I still find it a better experience than YouTube.
Speaking of music videos on AM, I wish we could watch the old MTV videos from the glory days.

This is a good move by Apple. If done correctly, it could lead to some Android users moving to Apple.
