Mac OS X 10.6.8 Build 10K524 Seeded to Developers

Following last week's seed of the first developer build of Mac OS X 10.6.8, Apple has now pushed out a second version known as Build 10K524.

With the update checking in as a 1 GB download, developers are reportedly being asked to focus their testing on AirPort, Graphics Drivers, Mac App Store, Networking, QuickTime and VPN, the same areas highlighted in the initial developer build last week.

As we have previously noted, Apple is expected to make Mac OS X Lion a major focus of its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) scheduled for just a few weeks from now. Apple has pegged the public launch of the next-generation operating system for "summer", although a more specific timeframe is not yet known. Consequently, Mac OS X 10.6.8 may be the final update for Snow Leopard before Lion debuts.

...Lion is really nice, very polished...

OR

Can anybody please elaborate on the “focus.. testing”, particularly for graphics drivers? I'm pretty sure “graphics” has been an area of focus in the developer builds for years (okay, maybe not that long), but nothing has really changed.

Graphics drivers are constantly being updated, and therefore constantly need to be tested. :) It's a good thing!

*Puts hands together*

Please please please give us an OpenGL update! I know it's not likely but I can only hope.

I don't get why you would install a developer preview on your main system/partition. Betas are known to have bugs. That's why they are usually not available to the public. Just use them for what they are meant: testing.

Snow Leopard is still in beta?

Can't come soon enough ... will be nice to be back to a hardware-independent build instead of all the one-offs of 10.6.7 generated for the new Thunderbolt machines.

Why is it the delta and combo are both 1GB?

Also, Apple needs to start telling people to focus on Boot Camp. I've had kernel panics and various other annoying errors with it in the past that I'm sure can be corrected with a bit of effort (and by past i mean relatively recent past).

Boot Camp is a set of Windows drivers, so it does not affect Mac OS X. New Boot Camp compatible partitions on your harddisk(s) do not cause kernel panics.

Regarding the 1 GB: It is a DEVELOPMENT version, not a LITTLE TOY.

SL 10.6.7 works great for me as is. I hope this update, when released, doesn't mess anything up.
Please make it a good one, Apple. I don't see myself moving to Lion for a long time.

I agree SL is a outstanding OS but your not curious about what Lion has in store? I feel Like Apple has made such spectacular improvements in their OS's throughout the last few years that I'm pumped to see whats waiting for us with Lion. Plus if it sucks you can watch me sprint back to SL lol

Not to be off topic, but Lion is really nice, very polished. It still has a lot of bugs, but we'll see what happens with it this june :)
