Algoriddim's Djay Arrives on iPhone and iPod Touch

Back in November, we first previewed a version of Algoriddim's Djay for iPad which took advantage of the new iOS 4.2 firmware to provide a low latency DJ experience on your iPad. The company has just released an iPhone and iPod Touch version of the app that offers many of the same features as the iPad version. While some were quick to note that such a system wouldn't be used by DJ's in a professional setting, it's still a very impressive use of the audio capabilities of the the most recent versions of iOS.

The iPhone version includes iPod library access, automix, beat matching, recording capabilities, and many of the same effects as the iPad version. The iPhone version is $9.99 [App Store] and is distinct from the iPad version which sells for $19.99 [App Store]

Umm.... is it just me who thinks so, but for $19.99, the iPad app should have universally worked on iPhone in my opinion. Especially since the usefulness on iPhone is far less than iPad. I've seen far more useful apps give you universal access for less money.

Don't get me wrong, I think this app is way cool, but it just seems it would make more sense to offer a universal app in this case.

yep destroying the art form, thanks apple.

My response to these kind of comments is always the same

Snobby Photographers said the same thing when DSLR's became affordable. Sorry to say this but Auto mode in high end camera's can produce near Proffesional level results ( takes years to be at true pro level)

Bringing Technology to the masses is a good thing
a) More interest
b) More exposure = Long time DJ's will up their game
c) Difference between a crappy DJ vs a good DJ become a lot more noticeable

Ha, reminds of the time when desktop publishing came first came to the masses in the form of Aldus Pagemaker.

from the video it seems inferior to Tap DJ, which is cheaper and seems to have more polish.
