Apple Tweaks Online Store With 'Compare Macs' Feature, Collapsible Configuration Sections

During a period of overnight downtime last night, Apple appears to have made several tweaks to the functionality of its online store.

The Loop points out a new "Compare Macs" feature offering users the ability to compare specs among up to three selected Mac models. The new option is available through either a direct link or as an option in the Mac product line menu bar after selecting a model.

Apple has also added collapsible sections to its configuration pages for various Mac models. The change allows users to open and close sections dedicated to topics such as hardware options, software options, service and support add-ons, and accessories.

I'm surprised Apple hasn't done this little feature sooner. Lame-o. What else will they do next year? Add copy-paste?

Excellent and useful feature. I am getting ready to get a new Mac Pro, and it will be nice not needing to open to side-by-side Safari windows to make comparisons.

I'd rather they put the sections all on one page, rather than having to click to the different sections. This new tweak will annoy the hell out of me.

The compare feature is rather pointless. I compare on price and buy any upgrades from another source. Apple charges way too much for upgrades.

The sections are all on one page.

It's for comparing different specs of mac side by side.

At least look before criticising.

Nice. I had just ordered a MacBook pro and were worried they were going to get a refresh when I saw the store go down last night.

I want all of 'em... screw comparing, release a heavy-duty dedicated GPU in the 13" MBP... Some of us want a true beast in a 13" screen. :D
