That's actually tempting. But the M1 Air is still doing fine and not even working hard. 5% CPU right now. The M4 is such overkill. The battery is still at 89% capacity and this one was bought in January of 2021.

A USB port on the right side would be nice for cable management, but it's really a good design.
M1 Air is such an insanely good machine. I'm upgrading to M4 because I have lots of store credit that I don't want to devaluate. But every time I use the M1 I can't find another justification for moving... it doesn't even so much as hiccup with my typical use case.

Of the 10+ Apple laptops I've had over last 2 decades, it's by far and away the best.

This is the same deal that Best Buy has been offering for weeks. It’s true that it’s the “best ever” for Amazon I suppose, but you’ve been able to get these prices for a while.

I'm in the same boat... I don't know how to justify upgrading my base M1 MBA. Is the camera a bit dated? Sure. But dos it continue to just get stuff done for me? Sure does. In these uncertain times, I can't bring myself to upgrade.

It's crazy that $799 has so quickly become almost the default price among big-box retailers in the US. I wonder how much lower it will go once the M5 Air is announced.
