Jony Ive and Designer Marc Newson Create One-of-a-Kind '(RED) Desk' for Charity

Following the announcement of a partnership with Leica for charity earlier this week, Apple's senior vice president of design Jony Ive and industrial designer Marc Newson have created the (RED) Desk, an aluminum table that will be auctioned off to benefit Product (RED), reports The Verge.

Superstar designers on a mission: Created to help fight AIDS in Africa, (RED) Desk by Jony Ive & Marc Newson is a signed one-of-a-kind, machined from solid aluminum, with an intricate cellular surface pattern, fabricated by renowned aluminum specialists Neal Feay Studio.

The table, along with the one-of-a-kind Leica M Rangefinder and a pair of solid gold EarPods, which were both designed by Ive, will be auctioned via Sotheby's on November 23. Proceeds will go to Product (RED), a longtime Apple partner. Apple has raised more than $65 million for the charity since 2006.

What is wrong with you people.

He's doing a great thing working with these companies to create one off designs to aid charity.

Stop making it all about Apple and iOS7.

Again, nice but...

In all seriousness, it's great that they're doing this for charity, though. Besides the ego-fest that Jony seems to be spewing (see last thread about this). I do hope that he's focused on improving the software for Apple, which I'm sure he is.

Sometimes it's hard to remember that there are many designers at Apple.

I already posted on appleinsider...as much I love Apple, this time Ive and Newson they just copied a desk and made in aluminum.

The desk is called Shift designed from Norman Foster for Tecno in 2011.
