(View all)Ok... as the times draws near, I am thinking about getting an iPad. I originally bought the latest model iMac to play WoW, but I just don't have the time to make the game worthwhile. So, for basic internet browsing and basic e-mail, the ipad looks ok...
So, honest question: outside of movies, why would anyone need over 16GB?
edit: Ok, so the obvious answer (not-so-obvious to me) was music. Something so simple yet it didn't occur to me because I use Lala.com (before Apple's purchase), Pandora, and a more recent favorite, Grooveshark. I'm never without streaming access so I don't have a reason to keep so much music on my ipod, but I see now why others would.
the ability to automatically convert songs to 128 kbps AAC format when syncing to devices
Is 128kbps the only choice?
Can anybody confirm this bit from yesterday's rumor?

Can anyone confirm if this is a real feature to begin with?
anyone know if you can browse the iBookstore?
UPDATE: You can have "Books" be an option under "Library", when you click it, it gives you a discription for both audiobooks and iBooks, but only lets you browse the audiobooks store.

Uhm...TV shows? Or lots and lots of music?
I'm sorry, but this kind of feels like an odd question. Do you have more than 16 GB of media in iTunes? I don't know the answer to that, only you do. And once you know what you have, I'm not really clear what you're asking us about...
You're just curious to know if anyone has more than 16 GB of music? Is that it? Yeah, many people do.
Darn, still no 64-bit? well, doesn't matter for me since I only have a Core Duo lol
Wait till iTunes X, you will.
:D

This is true -- I have > 80 GB on my MacBook Pro, with probably an extra 20 GB on an external drive -- which backs up all of this stuff too :)
Which is probably my only concern about getting the iPad -- I'd love to have of my music on it at once... we'll see if I cave eventually :)
At least I'll have an iPhone by summer!

I wouldn't expect that kind of change to happen with a point update. I expect that's what iTunes 10 will be all about.
Perhaps that will show up with the new iPhone in June.
