Apple Releases Network Registration Update and ODBC Administrator Tool

I had to call Apple earlier to get Server to install. They had me unplug the ethernet cable and then it took the serial number. Once the install was finished I noticed the serial number alternating between valid and invalid. This patch seems to have fixed that.

I guess if I ever have to reinstall I'll still have to unplug the cable though.

Good to see a quick release from Apple for this bug. However, it also affect Server 10.5.8. I hope the solution appears quick for this.

I had to call them as well since I couldn't figure out that this was the issue. They told me to go and disable the adapter, but I don't think they know that's not possible when the OS isn't set up yet.

call me crazy, but didn't ODBC Admin tools used to just come with Mac OS X ? I swear I've had it in the past without needing to install a separate package.

Yeah that was why they had me disconnect the cable. I don't have a wireless network so it had no connectivity and that fooled the installer I guess. He told me a patch for the problem would be coming but it's not like that helps during the install. I can't patch the OS until I enter the serial number.

Hopefully keeping the Mini off the network will always work. I wonder if there will be a cheap Server 10.6.1 DVD to trade/ order from Apple some day? Does Apple do that?

How did they fail to catch this during testing? Don't most server systems have multiple network interfaces?
