Is Flixter the one with the paper bag puppets? I don't think they are, but if they are, I may switch back to movies.app or ... well, now I'm completely confused.

OK, THIS is movies.app -- the other one i switched to was BoxOffice that used to be called something else...

man....I need a chart.

- and why does updating an app switch the order of all the icons.

BoxOffice is now called Now Playing -- presumably some powerful entity bitched about the name? Anyway, its the one I use, I find it close to perfect, I don't really have time to try anything else.

This new Movies.app has replaced BoxOffice/NowPlaying for me. It just blows it out of the water. I used movies.app on the web since last summer, but found it's appstore version to not be as strong. But this is an amazing movies application.

Plus, BO/NowPlaying links to fandango for online ticketing, which i've NEVER found a theatre that uses. Every theatre around me uses Moviefone.com and movietickets.com.

Downloaded the new movies.app on my way to work and promptly deleted Now Playing :)

One of the reviews says it used to link to rottentomatoes reviews, and now links to flixster instead, whatever that is... that's already a show stopper for me. I don't see the point of a movies app that doesn't link to rottentomatoes.

Ive been using Fandangos site for years and now use their iPhone optimized web site. It has always seemed good enough to get times and dates; on the iPhone the web site is very useful.

So I have to ask what's with the movie apps? Maybe I'm missing something here but generally I only want the basic info when choosing a theater to see. I especially don't want reviews making up my mind for me. Maybe I'm missing something here but what else does a movie app do for you?

Generally, I find the movie apps easier to navigate and quicker than surfing to fandangos pages via safari.

I like that this App actually lists all avalable Theatres near me... I am assuming that the "box office / now playing" was more designed for someone from the USA as it only listed 2 "major" theatres in my area..

Also this Movies app inculdes DVD releases as well which is quite exciting..

does anyone else notice that it is choppy when scrolling through the lists?
