In a press release, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that music fans in the UK, France and Germany have purchased and downloaded more than 800,000 songs from the iTunes Music Store in only its first week, with more than 450,000 sold just in the UK. With these figures, the Euro iTMS beat its closest competitor OD2 with 16 times as many sales in the same period.
