Apple's highly anticipated foldable iPhone or "iPhone Ultra" may only be available in a single finish when it arrives in the fall, based on the latest rumors.
In recent weeks, images of dummy units of Apple's first foldable have been making the rounds, and all of them show the book-style device in white.
Dummy units are non-functional device replicas used primarily for display and by accessory manufacturers, who rely on their precise physical dimensions to develop and mass-produce cases and other accessories before the device is officially announced.
Last week, a prolific Chinese leaker shared what appeared to be an image of a white foldable iPhone dummy. Within days, the leak was followed by more images from another source clearly showing the passport-style design with a white back and dual camera lenses.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has previously reported that Apple plans to avoid bold colors and stick to traditional finishes, and it could be that white is the only option.
In recent years, Apple has often prioritized a streamlined lineup when introducing entirely new premium categories, as seen with the Apple Watch Ultra and Vision Pro, both of which launched with a single finish option. So if the foldable is only offered in one color, it won't be a complete breakaway from tradition.
The "iPhone Ultra" will have a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner OLED panel that makes it just slightly smaller than the iPad mini when open. The starting price of the device could come in at around $2,000, and it is expected to be announced alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026.
