This price makes me so close to giving it a try. $50 would be a certainty, but I know that is a pipe dream. I am still trying to assess whether or not this can do the same things the Echo Dots I have can.
No, HomePod doesn't invade your privacy ('https://theconversation.com/amazon-echos-privacy-issues-go-way-beyond-voice-recordings-130016') as much as the Echo Dot. ;)

I would rather pay double elsewhere than set foot in a soul-sucking Walmart or use their hideous app, I wish everyone responsible for that stain on humanity the same level quality of life that their products exhibit and front-line employees experience on a daily basis
Best Buy price matches as long as it’s in stock and sold directly from Amazon or Walmart

Almost bought two just now but we have a few full size HomePods at home and they just sound so good that I'm afraid these won't sound as good and I'll have buyer's remorse. If only Apple priced the original HomePod at $150 and these at $50, they would have sold so many of them and they'd be a commercial success.
