Over the past few weeks, we've seen the 256GB model priced at about $1,219.00, so Amazon's sale today marks the best price on the M1 MacBook Pro in about a month. The Space Gray option is available to ship out today, but the Silver option won't be in stock until March 7.

The 512GB M1 13-inch MacBook Pro also remains on sale this week, priced at $1,399.00, down from $1,499.00. This sale has been more consistent in 2021, and it's another solid discount on the newest MacBook Pro. You can also get the same price at B&H Photo for the 512GB model.

Why no sales on the 16 GB RAM models?
The discount is later when your SSD isn't burned out and the device has a longer life while the 8 GB people are on their 3rd generation Macbook and spent a small fortune.

Is it worth it to wait for the refresh this year if I am coming from a late-2016 version?
It is and isn't I know the next refresh will be focused on the more powerful iMac and possibly a 16" MacBook Pro. If you need a laptop now, they are amazing, especially if you can grab one on sale. Even when Apple releases new models they only drop older models if the refresh directly effects that model. So if a 12/16 Core 13" MacBook Pro comes out then the 8 core might be a little cheaper.

The M1X is going to directly effect 12+ Core and 23gb RAM models, which are going to be more expensive anyway... If need more than 8 cores and more than 16gb of RAM wait, if not the M1 as is amazing as is..

I was worried about bleeding edge hardware, but they have been dialing this hardware in with the iPad Pro, you can tell. It is super fast and solid.

Also the M1X will most likely push the priced higher since more cores.. So right now you can get a sweet laptop for ~1500, when the M1X comes out, and you load it with cores and RAM, it will most likely be in the ~3600 range..

As always, if you can wait, wait.. BUT 6 months is a long time to not have a computer.

Is it worth it to wait for the refresh this year if I am coming from a late-2016 version?
To your question; I would wait. I've noticed a few of these are already up as 'refurbished' and now these discounts. I'm hard-pressed to believe that some of these M1's failed mechanically, so I'm more inclined to think that some folks returned them for whatever reason, e.g., didn't meet expectations, buyers $ remorse, or both.

If the 13-inch line with all USB-C ports is fine with you I’d be all over it. I’m holding off for the 16-inch refresh with the additional rumored ports (HDMI in particular).
