To answer what a lot you expect, there are two types of Radio Shack stores. The crappy ones run by franchise holders and the ones owned by corporate that very good, have trained sales crew and is more interested than pushing extended warranties.

My guess is that this is a dry run to get the Verizon phones out to other retailers. I keep on wondering when we will see iPhones being sold with pre-paid plans. I heard that Virgin has wanted to sell the iPhone for over a year now.

I work at Radio Shack in the DFW area and CFreymarc makes a good point and possibly the best point. The store I work at is corporate owned and not trashy and low maintance. We don't "all" concentrate on pushing a buyer but were also no different than a wallmart or best buy, we assume the sell and do our job. The new name The Shack is very stupid even in my opinion. Other than that the stories some of you guys are saying is idiotic, not everyone working at a radio shack is ignorant, alot of us do know alot about the electronic world. Those who go to stores and notice associates not knowing what they're talking about is most likely that there manager is not doing a good job hiring, or that the district manager doesn't take his job serious. Our group of stores in our district does it's job and were ready and we will be ready to sell the iPhone. Radio shack isn't going anywhere anytime soon, I promise that. It may not be what you want to hear but it's the truth.
