AT&T's 3G Network Struggling to Keep Up?

Posters on Howard forums are reporting slower than expected AT&T 3G internet connectivity in several markets across the country. These observations have been made on a variety of 3G-enabled devices.

AT&T's 3G network is said to offer download speeds up to 1.4Mbps, but recent customer testing has shown fluctuating speeds as low as 200Kbps, even in areas that previously had solid 3G coverage.

Of course, some have suggested that this could be the related to the launch of the iPhone 3G on AT&T's network just last week, but this remains speculative. Some users in our own forums have also noticed slower than expected speeds at times as well.
