Early October Launch of iPhone 5 Confirmed by AT&T Vice President to Employees? [Updated]
BGR briefly reports that an AT&T vice president has confirmed to some employees that the iPhone 5 is indeed slated to launch in early October as has recently been rumored by several sources.
Additionally, the VP communicated the following to a group of managers: “Expect things to get really, really busy in the next 35-50 days, so prepare your teams accordingly.”
Apple's carrier partners are frequently kept in the dark about Apple's exact launch plans, although AT&T has proven to be one of Apple's closer partners and hints from the carrier such as employee vacation blackouts have in the past narrowed down iPhone launch dates.Update: The Loop's well-connected Jim Dalrymple just quoted the BGR report and added a single word response of his own: "Yep."
Dalrymple is known to have solid sources within Apple and has at times almost appeared to be an unofficial outlet for the company as when he quickly debunked last week's claim of a September 7th media event.

(View all)These mockups with the huge friggin' home button are making me sick.
but you'll still buy the iPhone 5 if it looks like that :o
Anyway, all I'm hoping for is 64GB Capacity, 8MP Camera, and the new Dual Core A5. It feels like I've been throwing away $100/month for last few years, and I look forward to being able to use my phone again.
The only people who confirm Apple's plans are Apple managers. Guys by the name of Steve, Tim, Phil, Scott, Greg, Peter, etc.
Nothing is "confirmed."
Four stories in a row about finger dragging ape devices. This site should really consider changing the name to iosrumours.
Or Apple could focus more on Mac and therefore generate more Mac rumors...
I don't think MacRumors is disregarding any "Mac" rumors out there in favor for iOS rumors...
I don't know how you do it. I applaud you.
I upgrade with each refresh...
3G -> 3GS -> Black 4 -> White 4 -> Pending 5
Well some people either cannot afford to buy an expensive phone every year, or they don’t need to buy a new phone every year (most people probably fit under this one).
Also, you are aware that from Black iPhone 4 -> White iPhone 4, nothing actually changed apart from the colour, right?
I disagree. I went from the original iPhone to the iPhone 4, expecting to be blown away by the speed difference. Guess what? Not much faster at all. Camera is still a closed shutter _forever_ while launching. Text messaging, maps, etc. slow to respond. Typing characters just as slow as ever - I've typed a whole word and then look at the screen to see the letters i n d i v i d u a l l y appear. I still love my iPhone4, but I can't imagine how you could have seen a difference from the 3G to the 3GS when Original to 4 was minimal improvement. Don't get too excited for the 5.
I don't know if it's your phone or your eyes that are messed up... but my 3Gs was WAAAY faster than my orignal iPhone... and my iPhone 4 is WAAAY faster than my 3Gs was... Maybe some people are just hard to please?
What's the reasoning behind the giant home button again??:confused:
Because you can... in Photoshop.
