Mac OS X 10.5.6 Release Imminent... Friday?
Apple has seeded yet another build of Mac OS X 10.5.6 (9G55) to developers. This latest seed reveals no known issues and has addressed a few outstanding issues.
Beyond this, we have heard that Apple has started distributing this particular seed internally outside of the usual developer circles. This would indicate that this is the final version of Mac OS X 10.5.6 before public release. We had also heard unconfirmed whispers that the new version would be made available to the public on Friday, and this new information certainly makes that plausible.
Mac OS X 10.5.6 should be a free update available to all Mac OS X 10.5 customers upon its release.

Key word: Should. :p
Unless Steve has had an aneurism, it'll be free. This is good news, but 10.5.5 is stable like nobody's business.

Stability is one thing I definitely need. Any other ideas of what could be new compared to 5.5?

I know, I'm trying to think what else they could come up with for the 10.5.6 upgrade, because there isn't much else to do between now and Snow Leopard.

I'm old enough to remember System 7.5.5, probably one the worst OS headaches there ever was.

Is there a changelog from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 available somewhere? I'm definitely going to install it anyway but it would be good to know what I can look forward to :)

I'm saying it's coming out later today. After 6 PM PST :)
I hope it comes out today. Whenever it does come out, we should have a better idea of when Snow Leopard Will come out (based on an estimate).
