Santa Rosa-Based MacBook Pro 'Very Soon'... Next Week?

Gizmodo is claiming that a source has revealed that a new Santa Rosa-based MacBook Pro could be coming as early as next week.

While the site doesn't seem to have much faith in the next week date, they do seem to have faith that Apple will indeed update the line by WWDC. ThinkSecret has indicated that a MacBook Pro WWDC refresh was indeed coming that would include LED-displays.

Despite being an established tech blog, Gizmodo has been very liberal in the past about posting Apple rumors.

Wouldn't that bring the Macbook's graphics on par with the MBP's graphics then?

Until the new MBP comes out with even better graphics!

(Assuming of course the Intel X3100 with shared memory is as fast as the ATi X1600 with dedicated memory)

That's putting it mildly.

Although I love their sister-blog, LifeHacker, Gizmodo have shamelessly abused their readers trust in the past, making deliberately misleading posts to boost traffic. They finally lost all credibility with their famous claim of an upcoming Nintendo announcement that turned out to be an earnings report.

Hey, they're not macs, but it's an interesting first indicator of what to expect from santa rosa:

Sounds like a very evolutionary upgrade rather than anything revolutionary. My current C2D MacBook will do just fine at least until Penryn comes next year, then I might start looking again.

i agree. the only thing im curious about is the added battery life. i have to say that's the one thing im slightly disappointed about in regards to my C2D mbp. though i cant say i was expecting all that much.

it'll be interesting to see how much battery life the next mbp with santa rosa and led screens will get.
