Apple has finally caught up with rival podcast apps like Overcast by adding an Enhance Dialogue feature to the Podcasts app in iOS 26 (currently in beta).
The new audio processing option isolates voices and makes them sound clearer, which should prove ideal for any mumbled true crime episodes or echo-heavy interview shows you listen to.
How to Enable Enhance Dialogue
The setting is super-easy to find:
- Open the Podcasts app and start playing any show.
- Open the fullscreen playback controls.
- Tap the playback speed button (1x) in the bottom left.
- Tap the new Enhance Dialogue toggle in the popup menu.
Smart Per-Show Settings
Apple has designed Enhance Dialogue to remember your preference for each individual podcast, so you won't need to toggle it on and off every time you switch between shows with different audio quality standards.
Note that in the same popup menu as Enhance Dialogue, Apple's Podcasts app now also offers additional playback speeds, allowing you to set anything between 0.5x and 3x. Your speed selection will even be saved on a per-show basis – just like your enhanced dialogue preference.
Apple will roll out iOS 26 to all compatible iPhones in September 2025.
