Apple Seeds Second Beta of tvOS 16.6 to Developers

Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming tvOS 16.6 update to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming two weeks after the release of the first beta.

Registered developers are able to download the tvOS 16.6 update by downloading a profile on the Apple TV using Xcode.

tvOS updates are usually minor, focusing on internal bug fixes and improvements rather than notable outward-facing changes. There is no word as of yet what's included in the tvOS 16.6 update, but we'll update this article if we find anything new.

Apple shares some information on tvOS releases in its tvOS support document, which is updated after each tvOS launch.

Though we don't often know what's new in tvOS during the beta testing process, we let MacRumors readers know when new updates are available so those who are developers can download it upon release.

Look at the bright side at this point in time all the mainstream streaming apps work without issues.
tvOS 16.6 beta 2 (20M5538d) - May 31, 2023. PB coming tomorrow.

Most of us are curious to what tvOS 17.x will offer. AV1 support for YouTube maybe besides the VP9 support currently? A new version of Apple TV app. Obviously we are also waiting Apple Classical. Could be other ports such as Apple Weather that never migrated to tvOS. Expand Siri to offer fact finding concerning entertainment content from the web is something wished for. To do that might need to design a simple web browser for tvOS to support that capability.
