The app now more closely resembles Inbox by Gmail and Gmail for Android with a Material Design makeover, including an all-new pop-out side menu with a splash of color. Meanwhile, the new features should result in a faster experience for iPhone users.

I'm not saying iOS mail app is perfect but i just don't get google doing an app for iOS and then making it worse than the stock option. So many missing things.
