Apple Seeds First iOS 8.4.1 Beta to Developers

Apple today seeded the first beta of iOS 8.4.1 to registered developers for testing purposes, just two weeks after releasing iOS 8.4 with the new Apple Music service to the public. With iOS 9 already in the works and on track for a fall release, iOS 8.4.1 will likely be the last significant update to iOS 8.

Today's beta, build number 12H304, can be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center.

It is not yet clear what changes will be introduced with iOS 8.4.1, but as with past betas, it's likely to include bug fixes, performance enhancements, and minor tweaks to the operating system. We'll update this post with any new features or tweaks that are found within the new update.

iOS 8.4.1 follows on the heels of iOS 8.4, which introduced an entirely revamped Music app along with the new Apple Music service and the Beats 1 radio station. Aside from music updates, iOS 8.4 included only minor changes to iOS 8.

came to ask about 8.5, but see they fixed it already. :D

Anyway, happily testing and crashing in iOS9 at the moment.

We generally get these posts ready to go ahead of time so we can let you guys know about the betas as soon as possible. In this case, I expected iOS 8.5, not iOS 8.4.1. Had an itchy trigger finger and hit post before I finished updating it for 8.4.1. Sorry about that, I updated within 30 seconds but you guys are quick. :p

Is Apple trying to achieve some kind of record with supplemental updates for iOS 8? Dang! Oh well, more updates are better than fewer updates. :D

... This was released for one reason only:

To kill the 8.4 Jailbreak.

Sure.

But I've seen a few warnings about battery life, some of which seem plausible.

Yes... but different people have battery life issues with different iOS updates. Literally, there have been complaints of decreased battery life with every iOS update. I'm fairly certain you've experienced at least some updates that don't decrease or maybe even increase your battery life- updates that some people may say have decreased their battery life. So other people's issues don't necessarily have any impact on you.

Of course, 8.3 isn't a bad place to be considering 9 comes out in about two months. Still, I'll say that 8.4 has been great for me.
