Apple Expecting 6 Million iPad 2 Orders Per Month?

Digitimes reports that in anticipation of a high volume of orders for the next generation iPad, Apple is securing two additional touch panel makers, Chimei Innolux and Cando. According to Digitimes' sources, Apple's iPad 2 orders are expected to top 6 million units per month. In contrast, current iPad orders are only at 4 million units per quarter.

Apple has been widely rumored to be working on the next generation iPad for launch in early 2011. Several rumors have suggested the new iPad will have a better display and include at a front facing camera for FaceTime.

6 million units per month

Because as we all know, nobody wants one of these toys that is nothing moe than a big iPod touch, blah, blah, blah.

This is for entering new markets, but also selling to first-timers. There are many, many millions more to sell before people get their first tablet in this, the new Tabler Era of computers. This is big. Real big.

So ~1.33 million a month to 6 million a month. Apple really thinks that many people are holding off their iPad purchases because it doesn't have a Facetime camera? It's pretty optimistic.

I personally know of 7 people that want an iPad now and are waiting. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a significant increase in demand.

Who wants to pay full price for technology that will be outdated in a few months?

I want an iPad, but will hold off until 2.0 arrives.

6M/month - I dunno, but it's gonna be big!

My 2011 wish-list:

1. iPad 2.0

2. Apple stock

I've had an iPhone since 2007, but may not keep one once the smaller iPad debuts! Maybe I'll get a trac-phone for emergencies!

I'm with you 100% on the iPad2, but unless AAPL hits $600 sometime soon, I put my money elsewhere. :)
