Zune HD Hands on Demo and Impressions

Gizmodo posted this hands on video of the upcoming Zune HD which is positioned to compete directly against the Apple iPod Touch.

According to the gadget site, the Zune HD is "tighter and more physically beautiful than the iPod Touch and it's got a better UI". Engadget also had some hands on time with the unit and found it has "a nice, solid feel, with good heft to it and a surprisingly thin profile." The OLED screen was described as "stunning".

The existence of the Zune HD was confirmed yesterday and is due for launch later this year.

The video doesn't really portray a "great screen." I'd like to see a better video some time soon.

An improvement for Zune, but Apple will still over sell the Zune by far. And by the way, it does not have a better GUI than the iPhone/iPod Touch

Leave it to Microsoft to simply expand on something Apple has already been producing for a year. If they were actually innovating, it would be impressive.

Indeed. I'd love to see some companies like MS and Palm really light a fire under Apple's *** to encourage them to actually make substantial improvements to the iPhone/iPod touch, rather than just releasing moderately improved re-hashes every year.
