AT&T Mobility CEO: 3G iPhone Coming in 'Months'
iPhone speculation has remained at an all-time high this week. Reports of iPhone shortages has generated analyst speculation that the iPhone could be sooner than expected... despite June expectations.
While we don't put too much value in this idle speculation, Gizmodo reports on a revealing comment from AT&T's Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega from a lunch at CTIA 2008. Ralph de la Vega said that he expected all of their smart integrated devices to be 3G within the next couple of months.
When asked about the iPhone specifically, he responded with "Let me repeat what I said: I think that you're going to see our integrated devices be 3G devices in the not-too-distant future, and I mean months. That should be clear enough."
Our iPhone Buyer's Guide recommendation stands: buy only if you absolutely need it; updates are coming.

'Months' can be anything between June 2008 (2 'months') and March 2009 (still less than a 'year').

he did say couple of months before that. but it wasn't a direct quote from gizmodo.
regardless, the implication is clear. he was in conversation, it's going to be soon.

He says "couple of months" and "not-too-distant future" so I'm definitely thinking a May-October timeframe. (October for those of you who see a holiday season refresh/iPhone 2).

So now we only are waiting to see it the EDGE version will live along side the 3G version or not. I'm guessing it will be only 3G.

Its going to be paper launched at WWDC in June...just my thoughts...like some of the other posts here...here's whats going to happen..
1. Steve will go off explaining all the numbers of iPhones sold.
2. Talk about the 2.0 firmware and the development of it and releasing it.
3. Announce the new 3G iPhone, keep the current model priced at 299, release the 3G version at some other price point above the current. I doubt a design change of the phone, maybe a FEW cosmetic changes but thats about it, no total redesign that everyone on here is talking about.
4......etc

Ok so dont believe me if u don't want to, just dont call me a liar, my cousin is a lawyer who writes patents, and lucky for me, one of his clients is apple (he actually helped write the multi-touch for more than two fingers patent, and told me about it before it was patented. he says it will be like the technology they show in "Minority Report.") He told me the next iPhone will be in October 08.
This was in october 07 that he told me, so I don't know how valid this is. But if June isn't the month, you heard it here first, October.
