Apple today released macOS 27.0.1, the first update to the macOS Golden Gate operating system that came out in mid-September.

Mac users can download the new ‌macOS Golden Gate‌ software by using the Software Update section in System Settings.

Apple says ‌macOS Golden Gate‌ 27.0.1 fixes unspecified bugs. Apple has also released macOS 26.7.1 and macOS 15.8.1 security updates.

I'd clean installed on my M4 Mac mini and my M5 Pro MacBook Pro. Apple Intelligence was disabled by changing the Siri language and screen time settings and all was great. System data with all my apps installed was around 10GB and Apple Intelligence was taking up 1.8GB.

Now after installing 27.0.1 Apple Intelligence is taking up over 8GB despite still being shut off as best as it can be and now my system data on both Macs has ballooned to over 20GB.

I've got plenty of disk space but it's the principle here. It's mildly annoying.

It always indexes after updates, but because the public at large doesn't understand and scream their phone is getting warm and battery is draining it's now in a message.
