Apple's AirPods Max 2 have hit $429.00 on Amazon this week, down from $549.00. This sale is available in two colors on Amazon, while Best Buy has all five models in stock at this low price.

Free delivery on Amazon has the AirPods Max 2 arriving around August 22, but Prime members should see same-day delivery options in many locations. This is the best deal on the headphones that we've tracked since June, and it's just about $30 higher when compared to the all-time low price.

Every time I see a price reduction on these things I'm reminded how ridiculously overpriced they are and always have been. $349 would be decent starting price. Marked down to $299 during sales.

Still massively overpriced. They also come with quality issues such as condensation and failing canopies. They also don’t even have an off switch or a true case.

For the prices Apple has been charging, they should have fixed these concerns years ago, or dropped the price to $99 until they do.

AirPods Max have been bad for the entire market and consumers (even outside of Apple), because they've pushed the prices up quite a lot across that entire market. Never has a pair of headphones been so expensive.

I don't understand why folks think "plastic" = "bad" and "metal" = "good" here.

These are products that go on your head.
Weight matters (a lot).

I've had so many cans over the years, including APM, and none have been as comfortable and enjoyable for me as my Bose QC cans (gen 1 .. not current 2026 model). Light, cozy, amazing physical controls, fold up beautifully. It's a great refined design that really shows how long they've been at it.

I'd love to see a true APM 2 at some point.
