I should order this. This is genuinely my favorite remote for a tv type device.

The better remote is $79. This makes it $178. Not worth it. I've actually bought a new remote for an older Apple TV.
It's worth it for those who don't care about the new remote. There is plenty people who will value more a big discount than a slightly better remote in the decision process

Still not worth it to me. Why would I buy this over a Roku Ultra?
I, for one, am turned off by the creepy ad tracking business ('https://www.theverge.com/2018/7/20/17595384/roku-ceo-anthony-wood-ads-hardware-business-interview-business-model') Roku and a lot of competitors do. The Apple TV is well integrated into the Apple ecosystem, has a great UI. I got the newest 4K version because it has support for spatial head tracking audio through AirPods, which sounds incredible and works seamlessly. Although I guess the hardware isn't the absolute cutting edge it's been more than sufficient for streaming thousands of hours of TV on tons of various platforms. I got five years good use out of my last one. I forgot about the extra few bucks it cost pretty much immediately.
