Popular DJing App Djay Becomes One of First Apps to Integrate Shazam on iOS 15

Just ahead of the release of iOS 15, Algoriddim today announced it has integrated Apple's new ShazamKit framework into its award-winning DJing app djay.

ShazamKit brings Shazam's music recognition technology to the djay app, allowing users to discover music playing in their surroundings. Once a song has been identified, djay instantly loads it onto the virtual decks and plays the audio in sync with the external music source. The app's Automix feature can then create a mix with similar tracks. djay also saves previously identified songs to users' Shazam history in Control Center on iOS 15.

"Integrating Shazam into djay completely transforms the creative workflow of DJs," said Algoriddim CEO Karim Morsy. "As a DJ you are constantly on the lookout for great new music to play at your next gig, but identifying a track and the process of getting it into your library has been a challenging task with no seamless way to do it. Now, whenever you hear a great song you can load it into djay's decks with the tap of a button."

Apple announced ShazamKit alongside iOS 15, which will be released later today. The software update is compatible with all devices that can run iOS 14, including older devices like the original iPhone SE and the iPhone 6s.

I don't understand a real world reason to have this feature.... if you're dj'ing why would you Shazam what is being played? What am I missing here?

Shazam is going places.

What I'd like it to be able to do too:
Shazam with my iPhone while I watch Apple TV with AirPods.

This is a great example why DJay won't going to come out from the "Toy" category. Yes, I'm a DJ. Yes, i'm using Shazam a lot, but not during on stage where i'm all prepared for the night. :D I just can't see the real life scenario for this.

If they want to bring their game to the next level, then push the full Pioneer HID compatibility to iOS and iPadOS... Or work on a beat and key detection (both is pure garbage).

I tried to love their stuff, and i used DJay on many gigs (most of the time from my iPad), and it works basically, but after i've had to work twice because the beat grid were totally wrong, and the BPM values were miscalculated, i just gave it up on them. And I won't going to talk about file sync issues, and a lot more...

On the positive side: the stem separation feature is kind of cool and useful.

This isn't for something your playing yourself. It makes integration "better". So you have to manually add music to your library today. If your using Algoriddim, you can do so from iTunes or even Tidal (Which I use, it integrates better). So with Shazam integration, any music you tag can now automatically go into your DJ app library. If you listening to the radio or someplace that's playing music, and you Shazam it just like today. Your tags can now go right to the DJ app. Saving some typing.

For folks that Shazam a lot when say listening to XM-Radio (again, I do on the drive to work and home). There are plenty of mixed tracks that I know the name of, but not that "version" etc. Or maybe I don't know the name of it. You get my point.
Since Shazam is integrated into Apple Music, every music you find with it getting added to a specific playlist. And you won't going to be able to play it until you actually purchase it somewhere (iTunes, Bandcamp, Beatport, etc). I don't think Algoriddim can override the DRM setting of Apple Music ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
