iPhone 13 on Track to Launch in Late September Based on 'Supply Chain Checks'

Apple will likely return to its usual September launch timeframe for at least some iPhone 13 models this year, with availability currently slated for the third week of the month, according to Wedbush analyst Dan Ives.

In a research note shared with MacRumors, however, Ives said there is a chance that the launch could be pushed back to early October:

We have gotten more detailed reads from our supply chain checks for iPhone 13 builds with this next iPhone launch coming out of Cupertino in the late September timeframe. From a timing perspective, we believe the current iPhone 13 launch is slated for the third week in September as of now but could push out into early October based on continued product model tweaks.

Apple typically announces new iPhones in September, but the entire iPhone 12 lineup was unveiled in October last year, almost certainly due to production-related delays arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. With the supply chain now in better shape, it wouldn't be too surprising to see Apple revert to a September announcement.

Ives also continues to claim that the iPhone 13 lineup could feature a new 1TB storage option and a LiDAR Scanner across all four models, although TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the LiDAR Scanner will remain limited to the two Pro models.

I remember back in the early days I got every version of iPhone, from the first iPhone to the iPhone 4S. Then it started getting really expensive to stay current each year. I think the phones were about $300-400 back then, and there was 1 model each year. Now it's 4 models and they top out at 5-6 times that price.

Will be hopefully upgrading my 8 to a 13 this year. Funny thing is, it still works great, although that's with a new battery.

Never buy odd number iterations of iPhones. They mind as well be considered S iterations now.
Alternate view:

Never buy the even-number iterations, as the odd number iterations often refine the things debuted in the even-number models and the accessory/case market has had time to mature giving more options at lower prices. :D

I'll finally be upgrading my iPhone X. The first iPhone I've had for longer than a year.... It was a good decision (along with a bunch of others) though. Since getting the X, I've gotten completely out of alll my debt (there was quite a lot!) and will have saved up for my wedding by end of June.

Then 3 more months of saving and going on a BIG Apple splurge. Everything is getting upgraded. Phone, watch, MacBook. Far more excited than I should be. :D

It’s going to be fun watching you melt your credit card again this year! 😜

I mean so do I, but your posts are more fun and even I chickened out of Titanium or Steel and got the Nike Apple Watch in Aluminum. If they add blood sugar monitoring this year I’ll upgrade the watch to another Nike one, but otherwise I want to get at least 2 years out of the watches.

I’d like to hang onto my 12 Pro Max another year, but if the color of 2021 is a deep red, I don’t think I can resist.
Thank you for the compliment. I appreciate it.

I'm hoping it's deep red or burgundy red. Rest assured, I will be placing an order this year happily. Already have money saved up this year.

So far, I plan on ordering a new:

Apple Watch
iPhone 12S or 13 Pro Max
Macbook Pro 16 Inch model

Ofcourse all of them will be top of the line/top tier models :)

Yes, I paid $299 for my 6 64GB on launch day. I believe the insanity started with the 8 when it jumped to $799 or something like that.
You bought a subsidized phone - your carrier paid the difference and you were under a contract with an early-termination fee if you left.

The no-contract price for a 64GB iphone6 was $750.
