Sudeikis stars as the title character Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer. The show has received positive reviews, with many viewers finding solace in Lasso's unrelenting positivity, especially during these trying times in the world.

Other nominees in the category included:

  • Don Cheadle - "Black Monday"
  • Nicholas Hoult - "The Great"
  • Eugene Levy - "Schitt's Creek"
  • Ramy Youssef - "Ramy"

The annual Golden Globe Awards honor the best of both U.S. and international film and U.S. television, as chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. This is the first Golden Globe Award won by an Apple TV+ original or performer. Apple TV+ had three other nominations this year, but did not win those.

The cast of Ted Lasso will be participating in a virtual panel discussion at the PaleyFest television festival, with a video of the discussion to be released on April 1 at 7 a.m. Pacific Time. The panel will feature Sudeikis, series creator Bill Lawrence, and other cast members from the hit show, such as Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple, Nick Mohammed, Brett Goldstein, and Phil Dunster.

Ted Lasso has been renewed for second and third seasons, with the second season expected to premiere at some point in summer 2021.

I'm embarrassed to say the trailer for the show led to believe I wouldn't like it. Last week I was bored so I watched the first episode, I couldn't stop watching. I ended up binge-watching the enitre first season. Loved it, one of my favourite shows now.

Apple TV + is the only streaming service where I feel like I can click into literally anything and it’ll be 10/10. Can’t say the same for Netflix or (oh god) Prime.

Am I the only one that thinks this show is rubbish?
Probably not the only one, but that is definitely a minority opinion.

I think the show is great. However I don’t think the characters optimism is his defining feature. His best feature is that he knows how to bring out the best in others and wants that for them. That’s what really sells the show - his sincerity and the thought the character gives to actually helping people be better. But the show also works because the other characters are amazing. And interestingly all characters act like real people. There is not a lot of artificial drama for the shows sake which is a a welcome relief.

I'm on episode 7 of Ted Lasso and struggling to justify finishing it. I feel like it's either bad acting or poorly casted. Everyone's probably 10 yrs older than their characters should be. I can't seem to fall in love or care about any of the characters. It's got this feeling that it's everyone's first acting gig. What's up with the coach's assistant? He might as well be invisible.

If everyone's all abuzzed over this lackluster product, maybe they should shuffle on over to the Lifetime Channel where they can swim in this type of sappy mediocrity all they want
If you look up the ages of the actors, which I did, because I’m nosy that way, they’re all about the ages of their characters, give or take couple of years. I think British actors just don’t shoot their faces up with Botox and fillers, while they’re working in Britain anyway. It’s refreshing.
