Yahoo Mail App Updated With Link Previews and Stationery Features

Yahoo has introduced a new version of its Mail app for iOS with a handful of features migrated from its desktop interface, including support for inline URL previews.

The new Link Preview feature works by converting a web address typed into a message into a visual snapshot of the linked content, so recipients can see what's on the other side of the link before choosing to click it. The 'preview card' can be created inline with the message text or users can opt to append it at the bottom of the message.

In addition, the update to Yahoo Mail brings stationery themes to mobile users, enabling one-click email personalization for custom greetings or special occasions like birthdays. The app also gets system share support with a Yahoo Mail Share Sheet button for sending files and media from other apps straight to a new message compose window.

The update comes less than a month since Yahoo added the ability to include files from Google Drive and use Tumblr GIFs in the client app, as the company attempts to catch up with feature-rich mail services such as Gmail.

Yahoo Mail is a free download from the App Store for iPhone and iPad. [Direct Link]

people actually use yahoo mail?

Sure, why not?

I have an old Yahoo account which was my first ever email address and I still use it occasionally. I get some spam bit it yahoos filters are getting better and better. I created a couple other accounts, for cases when I have to put in an email address for various reasons or when I have to send or receive big files or pictures because I need to save on my 5 Gig iCould account, and those new Yahoo accounts never get any spam.

I use Yahoo mail for my personal email. I get no spam and it works fine, plus I have 1tb of storage.

I still have both, but are there just to keep the name. I actually have an away message on both that states they are no longer active accounts. I check them every few months (not sure if I have logged into either this year actually) and all I see is thousands of spam/phishing/trojan messages. So far my me.com account has done better.

I think if you created your account a long time ago and distributed your address all over, you will see spam. If you create new accounts whether it's Outlook.com, GMAIL, or Yahoo you will not see much if any spam these days.

I actually have a Yahoo Mail account I use but not the client. The Yahoo account is fairly new and I rarely if ever get spam. It integrates with the Mail.app nicely as it supports PUSH versus FETCH which is another plus. 2 Step authentication as well so getting hacked is less likely.

Not sure why folks are chiming in with comments about things they truly don't understand passing it off as knowledge.
