How is the new 'photos' app ? Are we looking at the typical 'apple replacement' for an existing app - which comes with less features and severely cripples productivity until 16 updates down the line (after an outcry from masses of consumers, complaining about lost functionality) - or is it at least as functional as iPhoto (not even going to compare it to poor old Aperture which has likewise been put out to pasture).

From what I've read I'll stay clear of the Photos app for a couple of months.

I'm a little (actually very) nervous about the iPhoto -> Photo's transition…

And I'm not even talking about the general buggyness and terrible (Finder) performance.

I'm usually all over OS X updates the minute they come out, but I think I'll be waiting a week or two before updating to Photos.

I have been on the beta using a late 2014 5k iMac and a 2012 Macbook pro, not had any issues with photos with either of them on the last beta.

Personally, I've had no issues at all with the beta version of Photos and it handles my photos much better than iPhoto ever did
