Apple Publicly Opposes California Proposition 8 (Ban on Same Sex Marriage)
Apple is publicly opposing Proposition 8 and making a donation of $100,000 to the No on 8 campaign. Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a persons fundamental rights including the right to marry should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8.Proposition 8 is on the California ballot for the November 4th vote. We typically avoid political news stories on MacRumors. Besides (generally) being off-topic, the debates surrounding an individual's belief in politics can often degenerate into very heated discussions. Due to this, we are keeping this story's discussion thread in our Politics, Religion, Social Issues forum. While anyone can read the discussion thread, only forum members with more than 100 forum posts will be able to post new replies. Please keep the discussion civil.
