Apple Now Inviting Media to October 28 'Launch Experience'

Apple has begun inviting selected members of the media to a product launch experience in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In a post on X, Gurman described the gathering as an "all-day product launch experience" for touchscreen MacBooks, a new iPad mini, and Macs equipped with M6 chips.

Gurman previously reported that Apple would introduce the devices "on or around" Tuesday, October 27, with an online video presentation and a hands-on experience for the media. His latest post specifies October 28 for the media gathering, but does not say whether the product announcements will take place that day or beforehand.

The touchscreen MacBooks are expected to be redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, featuring OLED displays, a Dynamic Island, and significantly lighter designs. While earlier rumors suggested Apple could use the "MacBook Ultra" name, Gurman's report from earlier this month suggested the devices would remain in the ‌MacBook Pro‌ family.

Alongside the redesigned high-end machines, Apple is expected to introduce M6 versions of the 14-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌ and iMac. The new ‌iPad mini‌ is expected to gain an OLED display, a front-facing camera positioned for landscape video calls, and a redesigned speaker system.

Can they just have a live keynote? Its like they are so obsessed with curating an experience that they've lost some of the genuineness that eluded trust with consumers.

I have to say, the is mixed messaging from Apple - launch new Macs with the M6 chip, but also launch ultra high-end Macs with the M5 generation chips.

Similar to the M3 Ultra/M4 Max Mac Studio launch and the recent M5 Pro/M6 Mini launch, but still a confusing message.

One can only hope that the products that will be announced on the 28th are a lot more compelling than those announced this week!

I wonder if at this point Apple waits for Gurman to make a claim and then they chnage things a little so he's never quite right 🤣

In 2013 I was in need of a new laptop. I always had Sony's in the past. But becuase you could not obtain spare parts even a year after release I began to look at other brands. All of them had touch displays. I could never figure out why anyone would want such a thing because my hands were already conveniently located on the keyboard to make a selection--why lift my hand and introduce another step. Then I came across Apple. Never had an Apple in the past. There was simplicity in the design, no touch display, and most important of all I could get space parts. So I purchased my first MacBook Pro with a 15" display, an Intel I7 Haswell processor and a wonderful trackpad. I am still using Apple laptops and never once felt the need to touch the display to make a selection. Why is Apple bothering with this touch display nonsense?
