Apple Releases watchOS 8 With Mindfulness App, Focus Mode, Messages Updates, Find My and Contacts

Apple today released watchOS 8, the newest version of the watchOS operating system designed to run on modern Apple Watch models. watchOS 8 is compatible with the Apple Watch Series 3 and later.

watchOS 8 on Apple Watch feature
‌‌watchOS ‌8 can be downloaded for free through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to General > Software Update. To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it needs to be placed on a charger, and it needs to be in range of the ‌‌‌iPhone‌‌‌.

In the future, you'll even be able to add your driver's license.

The Breathe app is now the Mindfulness app and it's gained a new Breathe experience and Reflect, a feature to help encourage mindful intention. There are two new workout types, Tai Chi and Pilates.

Apple updated the Home app to make it easier to use from the wrist, and there are now Contacts and Find My apps. The Messages app now supports sending GIFs, and its easier to communicate because Scribble and dictation can be used interchangeably.

A Portrait Watch Face uses your portrait photos for a unique multilayered look, and the Photos app is easier to navigate and lets you view more of your content. Apple's release notes for the update are below:

Yep, removed possibility to send voice messages and now it goes by default to scribble, because who doesn’t use scribble as default, right?
So to dictate a message now you have to do two steps.

Are they drunk when they come up with these ideas??

I already feel sorry for watch 3 owners like my mom who have to effectively wipe the watch* to upgrade. It's beyond her capabilities so I end up having to do it for her. Seriously, Apple, there needs to be a better way than this.

yea I did that earlier but still no watch update available
Same here. I had been on iOS beta (but not watchOS beta), removed the profile, restarted, opened the Watch app and tried to manually see if there was an update but it says I've got the latetst (7.6). tried rebooting the watch but still only seeing "watchOS 7.6"

[update] turned out my watch had a beta profile on it (somehow locked in to only working for 7.x). once i removed that and restarted the watch, the update appeared

How has watchOS 8 performed for those who were daring enough to install the beta? Mainly concerned about battery life.
Early betas were awful...but the last betas and RC are good. I'm now getting 24+ hours on my Series 6.
