Apple today announced that F1 races on the Apple TV streaming service will now be broadcast with Dolby Atmos spatial sound, starting with the 2026 U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, Texas on October 23 to October 25. Apple's press release outlines everything F1 fans need to know about the U.S. Grand Prix and ways to follow along.
Apple TV has been the exclusive home of F1 in the U.S. since March, as part of a five-year partnership. All races are included with a subscription at no extra cost.
There's an option to link your AppleTV account inside the F1TV app - this is what I do and you get full access.
I do hope the Atmos broadcast is also on F1TV app as I almost exclusively use F1TV on Apple TV to watch the races as the (Apple) TV app puts commercials in at really inconvenient times. lol Like there is a good time for a commercial during a sporting event... .
Early in the season I was watching for driver interactions after the checkered flag and TV decided to show me an ad about watching F1 on the TV app! I was already watching! I switched back to F1TV to see if the drivers were giving thumbs up or single middle digit "congrats". And we do get extra segments on F1TV during the FP and Q sessions when TV app does go to commercial.
I believe anyone can use their TV credentials to sign into F1TV, though as I've had the F1TV account since it was introduced it is possible it required a previous account. Does anyone know how that works for newer viewers of the races?
