Java 1.4 at WWDC?

The Java Update prompted discussion about Apple's upcoming implementation on Java 1.4...

This mailing list email from Apple's Java Product Manager, Allen Denison on Jan 30, 2002 reveals a WWDC early release for Java 1.4:

We understand that not having the latest version of Java
(beta or otherwise) at the time it's available for other platforms is a
shortcoming. But let me assure you that it's our intention to make that
a temporary shortcoming, rather than an ongoing one. Our commitment is very strong, and hopefully that will be demonstrated in our actions over
the next year.

PS: It's my personal hope/goal that Apple and Sun will be able to align
our 1.5 releases, but don't take that as a promise.
