Apple Releases Second Studio Display 17 Firmware Beta

Apple today released a second Studio Display 17 firmware beta, with the update coming two weeks after the release of the first beta.

All ‌Studio Display‌ models are able to receive firmware updates, but this firmware update is limited to Macs that are running the new macOS Sonoma operating system at the current time. ‌Studio Display‌ owners running macOS Sonoma can go to System Settings > Software Update to install the firmware, and a connection to a Mac is required to update the ‌Studio Display‌'s software.

Apple has not provided details on what's included in the firmware update and no new features were found by those running the betas.

Lol… why is this even a thing? I mean, are they planning on releasing new built-in features, or what?

I don’t have one, but if I did, these iOS numbered updates for a display would drive me nuts. If it was a couple of possible firmware updates here and there, like normal monitors, it wouldn’t be so odd.

Edit: Or, enable it as an Apple TV running tvOS.

Think of it as an iPhone 11 64Gb with a 27 inch display, then it makes sense
Without the functionality of the iPhone part. But you get to pay for it!
