All Studio Display models are able to receive firmware updates, but this firmware update is limited to Macs that are running the new macOS Sonoma operating system at the current time. Studio Display owners running ‌macOS Sonoma‌ can go to System Settings > Software Update to install the firmware, and a connection to a Mac is required to update the Studio Display's software.

Apple has not provided details on what's included in the firmware update and no new features were found by those running the betas.

Now just release a decent monitor that doesn't cost more than an iMac.

Lol… why is this even a thing? I mean, are they planning on releasing new built-in features, or what?

I don’t have one, but if I did, these iOS numbered updates for a display would drive me nuts. If it was a couple of possible firmware updates here and there, like normal monitors, it wouldn’t be so odd.

Edit: Or, enable it as an Apple TV running tvOS.

I do wish they would enable Apple TV like experience for the Studio Display and enable pairing with an Apple Remote, it would just be a nice little Netflix/Streaming device without having to turn on a computer. Or even a dedicated Zoom/Facetime device.

It is essentially a computer already so you might as well enjoy all the benefits.
