IBM Releases 100th MobileFirst for iOS App, Expanding Suite to iPad Pro

IBM today announced that it has released its 100th MobileFirst for iOS app, fulfilling its goal set in partnership with Apple. The made-for-business apps are used by enterprise customers across 14 industries and 65 individual professions, including wealth advisors, flight attendants, first responders, nurses, retail buyers and more. MobileFirst for iOS apps include Advisor Alerts, Asset Care, Hospital RN, Passenger+, Sales Assist, Sales Consult, Train Tickets, Traveler Care and dozens others, used by clients such as Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Air Canada, AXA, Bosch, Coca-Cola Amatil, Japan Post, Rimac, SAS and Vodafone Netherlands. IBM also said it is developing MobileFirst for iOS apps for iPad Pro, which will take advantage of the 12.9-inch tablet's expanded power, performance, larger screen size and iOS 9 multitasking features. Apple Pencil's precision and functionality will enable enterprise users to design and layout a room, log transactions or annotate maintenance logs. IBM Launches New Service to Deploy Macs to Businesses Around the World

IBM today announced the launch of a new service that will allow large companies to easily incorporate Mac computers into their preexisting corporate infrastructure. The service, being deployed by IBM's MobileFirst Managed Mobility Services unit, will be aimed at companies around the world and not just based in the United States. Thanks to the MobileFirst partnership with Apple that has brought about multiple waves of enterprise-focused apps as the company has increased its own usage of Macs, IBM saw an opportunity to commercialize its expertise in "enterprise deployment" of Macs in the workplace.“Ease of adoption and use are at the foundation of every Apple product, and as these devices are used more in the workplace, people expect the same experience they enjoy with Apple technology in their personal lives,” said Richard Patterson, general manager, Infrastructure Services, IBM Global Technology Services. “IBM’s new enterprise services ensure a great user experience for clients using Macs, providing world-class support from installation through the life of the product.” The company promises that the new MobileFirst service will be completely headache-free for clients, with the Macs delivered directly to customers and ready to go out of the box with easy network access setup screens and security measures. IBM Expands MobileFirst for iOS Lineup With Eight New Apps

IBM on Tuesday continued the expansion of its MobileFirst for iOS enterprise portfolio with eight new workplace apps ranging in specialty from healthcare, insurance coverage, and retail sales (via AppleInsider). The majority of this week's expansion lies in the healthcare field, with four of the eight new apps focusing on apps aimed at assisting healthcare professionals with more easily manageable patient and hospital data. They range from basic patient data file management to curating a list of current and completed tasks required of nurses working any given area of a hospital, and even an app that allows doctors and nurses to continue evaluating and administering diagnoses while a patient is at home. The Hospital Lead app offers head nurses a dashboard of employee delegating tools. The remaining four apps cover new areas for the IBM and Apple partnership, like the industrial products field, and old ones, seeing its retail and insurance lineup bolstered with new solutions. Travel and transportation gets a new app, as well, called Ancillary Sale, which allows flight attendants to sell seat upgrades, food, beverages, and merchandise to passengers with the ease of Apple Pay. The app also remembers individual passenger preference, so flight attendants can recommend items on current flights based off of the purchases a user made on previous flights. Apple and IBM Introduce Ten Business-Focused 'IBM MobileFirst' iOS Apps

Following a partnership announced over the summer, Apple and IBM have today introduced the first in a line of mobile business apps that target a wide range of industries and businesses. Dubbed "IBM MobileFirst for iOS", the suite of ten apps hopes to "bring IBM’s big data and analytics capabilities to iPhone and iPad users." With the initial batch including apps focused on the finance, air-travel, and banking industries, IBM also confirmed a few clients including Citi, Air Canada, Sprint, and Banorte will support the MobileFirst program starting today. “What we’re delivering aims directly at the new quest of business—smart technologies that unlock new value at the intersection of big data and individual engagement,” said Bridget van Kralingen, senior vice president, IBM Global Business Services. “Our collaboration combines IBM’s industry expertise and unmatched position in enterprise computing, with Apple’s legendary user experience and excellence in product design to lift the performance of a new generation of business professionals.” One of the ten apps, Sales Assist, is retail-focused and, for example, allows workers to view customer profiles with extensive back-history on previous purchases to help make informed suggestions tailored to specific users.
