'iPhone 17 Air' Launching Later This Year With These 17 New Features

While the so-called "iPhone 17 Air" is not expected to launch until September, there are already plenty of rumors about the ultra-thin device.

iPhone 17 Air Size Feature
Overall, the iPhone 17 Air sounds like a mixed bag. While the device is expected to have an impressively thin and light design, rumors indicate it will have some compromises compared to iPhone 17 Pro models, including worse battery life, only a single rear camera, only a single speaker, and an A19 chip instead of an A19 Pro chip.

Below, we recap 17 key rumors for the iPhone 17 Air as of June 2025:

i’d really prefer a new mini over this single speaker, single rear camera thing… but apparently this is what the market is asking for?

Exactly and thicker would be the iPhone mini. We all know how that sold because of the poor battery life. I don’t think a thinner version of the iPhone mini with worse battery life would sell any better.
If iPhone mini existed with current battery chemistry the battery life would likely be noticeably better than it was for 13 mini, and even 13 mini was better than 12 mini (I owned both, my current iPhone is 13 mini). I think not just battery life, but the thing that killed the "mini" more than even that was its name. I came to this conclusion having discussions with two separate women. They were looking for a new iPhone and when I suggested "iPhone mini" both independently were adamant they didn't want a "mini" iPhone. I showed them my 13 mini and they both had the same reaction, surprised, they considered the phone larger than its name would suggest, "oh, it's not really mini". I have given this feedback to Apple. The name put many people off, I'm sure of it. Go with 5.6" rather than 5.4" and drop the sub-name, and indeed, numbering. Instead, releasing simply "iPhone" in several sizes (3 or 4), and the same sizes for "iPhone Ultra" which could be 33% thicker, with all the camera bells—fatboy. Apple must regain its focus and product clarity, the lines are a mess.

Yup, same thought here. It would be an instant buy for me if it was in the 5.6-5.8 size range.
