The folks at iPatch iPods have created another hardware mod to follow up on their Backlit Apple logo from September.

The original mod was revealed late last year, and they've since added a new feature which they describe as a "headphone jack torch". This video walks through the original glowing Apple mod and also the new headphone jack one:

The headphone jack remains fully functional, and they are even working on a fibre optic headphone cabling that would give you illuminated cables in different colors.

iPatch is a a third-party iPhone repair company based in the UK and can also be followed on twitter at iPatch_iPods.

or you can be a complete tool. All I did was ask a question. And don't worry, I am not going to.
Fair comment, I deserved that.

I was aiming for "tounge in cheek" but I misjudged it. Apologies for any offence caused.

can it be turned off? I dont want a beam of light shooting out of my phone the entire time the screen is on. What if I am using it during a seminar or something and trying to be discreet?

On the other hand... it would be quite funny if you left your phone turned on in a darkened theatre, and decided to sneakily check your phone for messages mid-show. Suddenly... a beam of light shines out from the middle of the audience!

".....wasn't me!" :p

I can imagine someone with this mod bringing in their iPhone to the Genius Bar where the Geniuses will proceed to look down the headphone jack for the water indicator while accidentally pressing the power button.
