Gizmodo reported that the latest iPhone 2.0 Beta firmware allows users to save photos from Safari directly to iPhoto.
We tried and it works: just hold your finger against an image for a longer time than usual and the popup dialog will appear.
Current versions of the iPhone offers no method to download photos from Safari, and the only way to get photos into the Photo application is through iTunes/iPhoto syncing.
