MacRumors April Giveaway

For our April giveaway, we cleaned out our closets to find innovative products that we haven't offered in previous giveaways.

Geologic Laptop Stand

FeS2 Deluxe Laptop Stand
The new FeS2 Deluxe™ laptop stand from Geologic Inc. is both upscale and eco-friendly. A gem of a product, the stand glistens in the light, giving it an opulent golden glow that will make you the envy of all your friends. You'd have to be a fool not to love this extravagant stand.

Each stand is uniquely shaped, created by a process that Geologic claims is 100% natural. You can adjust the height by rotating the stand to different positions, but because of the unusual shape it may take a bit of work to balance your laptop. Your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro will wobble as you type, but luxury always comes with a price. We think this laptop stand will rock your world.

Steve Jobs: A Real-Life Reader Biography

Steve Jobs Bio Cover
Do you think that Steve Jobs could do no wrong? Have you been frustrated by the negativity of the recent biographical books and movies about your hero? This glowing history of the Apple leader and industry visionary is the perfect read for people who defend Jobs against every criticism.

A 2011 hagiography by author Ann Gaines, this book was published long before many of the negative stories about Steve Jobs had emerged. It's a pleasure to read an entirely positive life story. It will certainly help your relentless efforts to preseve Jobs' polished image and deny that he had human faults like everyone else.

Steve Jobs Bio Content

In this telling, Steve Jobs was a dedicated family man. There's no mention of denied paternity, phone phreaking, LSD, cheating Woz out of Pong earnings, berating and firing employees on the spot, back-dated stock options, e-book price fixing, tax-avoidance tricks, a lack of charitable donations, or failing to wear a necktie during Macworld keynotes.

Unfortunately, the book was published before the triumphant success of the iPod, iTunes Store, iPhone, App Store, and iPad, but you already know those stories. The book may have been written for children, but it's perfect for reality distortion worshipers too!

ScreechAlert Security Cover

ScreechAlert Security Cover
This convenient iPad cover, available for all iPad models and in 7 colors, alerts you if an unauthorized person opens your iPad cover. Its piercing shriek can be heard up to a block away, so you and everyone else will know that somebody is trying to use your iPad without your permission.

It's simple to disable the alarm each time you open your iPad, using the ScreechAlert's two-factor authentication (2FA). As soon as you lift the cover, just open the accompanying ScreechAlert app, tap Send Security Code, check the email on your smart phone for a 10-digit security code, and enter it on the iPad. You have 12 long seconds to do this. Otherwise, the alarm sounds for 90 minutes or until you're out of battery power.

Product vendor Dessibell claims that the ScreechAlert can break glass within 150 feet, but those claims are exaggerated. Our reviewers found that windows, dishes, stemware, and eyeglasses broke only within about 80 feet.

Before using the ScreechAlert, check the noise zoning ordinances in your neighborhood.

ScreenAlert saved the day. My kids won't try to play Candy Crush Saga on *my* iPad again.

Have they come out from under their beds yet?
