Apple Clearing Out the iPhone 4 for $149 (16GB) and $199 (32GB)

If for some reason, you don't want to get the new iPhone 4S, Apple retail stores are selling the remainder of their iPhone 4 16GB and 32GB models while supplies last. The clearance prices for the units are $149 and $199, with the usual 2 year contract. Apple will offer a $99 iPhone 4 model going forward, but that model only has 8GB of storage.

The prices are $50 and $100 cheaper than their 16GB and 32GB iPhone 4S counterparts, though you are losing a fair number of features (faster processor, Siri voice assistant, better camera).

For $50 more you might as well get the new one. I mean, your monthly bill for two years will be greater than that, so that's like $2 a month more for a better phone.

how much space will iOS 5 take up. My iPhone 4 16GB says it only has 14GB capacity. If 2.5GB of my 8GB is going to be lost to the OS then maybe it is worth getting another 16GB phone.

Well, now that the iPhone is coming to Sprint, and Sprint has a decent signal at my house again, we'll be switching to Sprint. My original thought is that I'd get a 4S and my wife would get a 4. She'd probably like more storage, since she tends to fill hers up with pictures and apps she never deletes, so this would have been good.

But then she watched the video on Siri....

So looks like we're getting two 4S's now...

Save 50 bucks and have a phone that weighs less, has 100 more stand- by hours, is cooler running, runs the same OS, will be tArgeted by more devs for app development, shares an identical chassis, and same display. Also running proven hardware, so you have less chance of defects. You would have to settle for the second best camera on the market, and the speech-dictation services of Siri...of course you could get most of that using Dragon apps.... The 4 may be the better option.
